5 Hollywood films that are already creating Oscar buzz


Los Angeles - 2014 has seen a lot of films being released, many of these pieces of art have already had critics calling them one of the best films of all time.

However, in the movie industry there is no greater accolade than a good old Oscar. We have seen actors careers take off after simply being nominated for an Academy Award.


Here are 5 films that have already earned their place in the list of Academy Award nominations just with their popularity amongst audiences at film festivals, movie theater goers and film critics alike.
1) Foxcatcher

Starring Channing Tatum the film tells the story of Olympic Wrestling Champion, Mark Schultz who's brother, also a  Olympic Champion, gets murdered by a paranoid schizophrenic named, John du Pont.

2) Big Eyes
A biographical drama starring Amy Adams as Margaret Keane who became a national celebrity and talk show fixture in the 1950's after pioneering prints of big-eyed kids, which she marketed very well and sold to hardware stores and gas stations all across America.
3) Nightcrawler

A crime thriller starring the great Jake Gyllenhaal, chronicling the story of an ambitious young journalist who inadvertently finds himself working in the underground world of Los Angeles's freelance crime journalism.
4) The Wild

Reese Witherspoon's performance in this film as Cheryl Strayed has received great reviews at film festivals already. To rid herself of all the pain incurred during her divorce and the death of her mother, Cheryl decides to go on a thousand mile hike of the Pacific Crest Trail, alone.
5) Birdman

Starring Michael Keaton alongside funny man Zach Galifianakis, Birdman tells the story of an an egocentric play write who struggles to mount a Broadway play just days before opening night.
