Superhero 'Turtles' swing back onto big screen in new mutation

Cast members (from L-R) Danny Woodburn, Jeremy Howard, Alan Ritchson, Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Noel Fisher and Pete Ploszek pose at the premiere of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' in Los Angeles, California August 6, 2014.

The teenage mutant heroes in a half shell are battling their way back to movie screens with teen crushes, insecurity, rage and a hankering for pizza in a franchise reboot for a new generation.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," based on the 1980s comic book series that led to a television show and then a film in 1990, features four turtle brothers trained as fighters.

In the 2014 version out in U.S. theaters on Friday, the amiable Turtles named after Renaissance artists are brought to life with new performance capture technology.

Jagger, Hawking join big celebrity push to keep Scotland in the UK

Mick Jagger, frontman of British rock band The Rolling Stones, performs during a concert at the Tele2 arena in Stockholm July 1, 2014.

Singer Mick Jagger, actress Judi Dench and scientist Stephen Hawking are among 200 British stars who have signed a letter urging Scotland to remain part of the United Kingdom, six weeks before a historic referendum on independence.

The letter, an attempt to sway Scots before the September 18 vote, was organised by "Let's Stay Together", a group which says it aims to give a voice to the millions of Britons outside Scotland who don't have the right to vote.

Only Scots residents can take part in the referendum, meaning people who live in the three other constituent parts of the UK - England, Wales and Northern Ireland - don't have a say.
