The Top 12 Masterchef SA contestants spill the beans on their favourite dishes



Johannesburg – Season 3 of the popular amateur chef show MasterChef SA is cooking on M-Net.

With the selection of the Top 12 the competition is heating up and the pressure is on to perform.

We had the opportunity to get to know each of them better and spent the day with them at The HTA School of Culinary Art in Johannesburg.

Michael Douglas' son to be released early from prison



Cameron Douglas, 35 - who is currently serving time at Cumberland FCI in Pennsylvannia for possession of crystal meth and cocaine with intent to distribute - is believed to be getting out a year earlier than his expected 2018 release date on March 18 2017, according to prison reports viewed by RadarOnline.com.

Cameron - who has been in jail since 2009 - is the Wall Street star's only child from his first marriage to Diandra Luker and was released from solitary confinement in the same prison earlier this year.

Morgan Freeman joins Ted 2



Los Angeles - Morgan Freeman has joined Ted 2.

The 77-year-old actor has landed the role as a civil rights lawyer in Seth MacFarlane's comedy sequel, which follows the adventures of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) and his living bear Ted (MacFarlane).

The plot details are being kept tightly underwraps but it is thought Freeman's character will step in to help the foul-mouthed bear when he finds himself in a spot of legal trouble, according to Variety.com.

Los Angles - Beyoncé and Jay Z accidentally gate-crashed a wedding in Portofino, Italy over the weekend.

The world famous couple - around whom there continue to be rumours of marital strife - walked into a church to unexpectedly find they were interrupting the nuptials of the soon-to-be husband and wife.

However, fortunately for Jay and Beyoncé, the newlyweds took kindly to their unexpected arrival, inviting them to pose for pictures and generally joking around with the two music superstars.

Chris Brown says jail made him more mature


Los Angeles - Chris Brown claims his "maturity level has risen" since leaving jail.

The Loyal hitmaker, who was released on 2 June after spending 108 days behind bars for violating his probation after he allegedly made threats about using guns while seeking anger-management treatment in rehab, admits it was "a humbling experience" and made him realise he is "human like everyone else".

The 25-year-old star told Billboard magazine: "I'm just more appreciative of the things I'm blessed with and the things I do: music, being able to take care of my family, being able to see my friends and family."

George Clooney to wed in Venice in 'couple of weeks'


Los Angeles - George Clooney will marry Amal Alamuddin in Venice "in a couple of weeks."

The 53-year-old actor revealed he and the human rights lawyer, who have been dating since last September, are to tie the knot towards the end of this month at a secret venue in the Italian city.

Speaking during his acceptance speech at the Celebrity Fight Night event on Sunday in Tuscany, Italy, he told the audience: "I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying, in a couple of weeks, in Venice, of all places."

Sir Cliff Richard unsure of who his accusers are


London - Sir Cliff Richard is unsure who is accusing him of sexual assault.

The 73-year-old singer is being investigated over an historic allegation that he sexually assaulted a schoolboy at a religious rally held in Sheffield, England in 1985.

The Sunday Mirror reports that Cliff told a friend: "I've no idea who's behind this. It's so unfair."

A friend of the Summer Holiday hitmaker added: "He's mystified by all of this. He doesn't know his accuser. He has no idea when his ordeal will end, Sir Cliff very much wants to return to performing full-time without a stain on his character. This has affected him greatly, and he just wants to get on with his life."

'Guardians of the Galaxy' continues assault on U.S. box office

 "Guardians of the Galaxy," already the biggest film of the year, continued its improbable assault on the box office, collecting $10.2 million to lead all films after a month in theaters.

Featuring a cast of misfit super heroes that includes a machinegun-toting raccoon, "Guardians" leapt from the pages of Marvel Comics to total $295 million in ticket sales in U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to studio estimates.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" was second with $6.5 million in ticket sales for the three days from Friday through Sunday on a relatively slow post-holiday weekend. "If I Stay" was third with sales of $5.8 million, according to the box office tracking site Rentrak.

 Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters says a new movie about his monumental, three-year remounting of the band's famous "The Wall" album should be seen as a protest against the growing spread of armed conflict, rather than just a concert documentary.

"Roger Waters: The Wall", which had its world premiere on Saturday at the Toronto International Film Festival, documents the massive concerts that included pyrotechnics, animation, a flying inflatable pig and an actual wall constructed on stage as the show progressed.

But it also includes vignettes of Waters visiting war cemeteries and memorials in Europe, including the grave of a grandfather who died in World War One, and the site of the 1944 battle that killed his father when Waters was just a baby.

Julia Roberts to star in Oscar winning movie remake

Los Angeles - Julia Roberts is to star in the remake of The Secret in Their Eyes.

The August: Osage County actress has been signed up to play the female lead in the upcoming Billy Ray-directed remake of the 2009 Argentine crime thriller, Deadline reports.

12 Years A Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor is set for the male lead of a former MI-5 agent who returns to Boston on a joint task force with the FBI.

Roberts will play his friend and former partner whose daughter was murdered.

Ejiofor's character refuses to get over the crime and digs up the case years later when he thinks he's found the man who got away with it.

Gwyneth Paltrow has also been signed up to appear alongside Ejiofor and Roberts, who recently impressed in HBO series The Normal Heart.

The Secret in Their Eyes is scheduled to begin shooting in Los Angeles in October with Mark Johnson producing.

Singer Simone Battle found dead at LA-area home

Los Angeles - Girl group singer Simone Battle has died.

According to the Los Angeles County coroner's office, Battle was found dead in her West Hollywood home on Friday morning.
Battle gained notoriety through performances on the television show X Factor, and her band — G.R.L. — had been signed by mega-hit maker Dr Luke.

Los Angeles - Gwen Stefani thinks her baby son is a ''miracle.''



The 44-year-old singer was adamant she and her husband Gavin Rossdale didn't want to have any more children but she was left stunned when she fell pregnant with Apollo, six months, after her eldest son Kingston, eight, asked God for another little sibling. 

Gwen - who also has Zuma, six, with Gavin - explained: ''He has a direct link to God, basically. He asked me, 'Mum, are you gonna have a baby? I want you to have a baby.' 
''I was like, 'It's over. We're not having any more. This is our family.' ''

Imitating her son, the blonde beauty said Kingston would clasp his hands together, close his eyes and say out-loud: 'Dear God, please let my mum have a baby. Please, God! Please let my mum have a baby!' 

She added: ''And four weeks later, I was pregnant!'' 

The Voice USA coach, who married Gavin in 2002, admits she's slightly concerned about what Kingston will pray for next because his faith is so strong. 

Speaking on Late Night this past Wednesday, she explained: ''He prays for everything. He's like, 'Please, God, please let me have another cupcake... Yes!' He really believes.''

Comedian Joan Rivers moved to private room from intensive care: daughter

Comedian Joan Rivers, who suffered cardiac arrest last week, has been moved out of an intensive care unit in a New York hospital and into a private room, her daughter said on Wednesday.

Rivers, 81, is "being kept comfortable" in a private room at Mount Sinai Hospital on Manhattan's Upper East Side, according to her daughter, Melissa Rivers.

The comedian was placed on life support after she stopped breathing and suffered cardiac arrest during outpatient surgery on her vocal cords at a nearby clinic on Aug. 28.

A French film that improbably links soccer and classical music in a tale of a sports-mad teenage boy living in poverty with his dying mother and who meets his estranged conductor father for the first time charmed the Venice Film Festival on Wednesday.

Alix Delaporte's "Le Dernier Coup de Marteau" (The Last Hammer Blow) relies heavily on body language rather than dialogue to communicate its bittersweet coming-of-age story.

"What you will see in the film is there is not much dialogue, people do not talk much, characters do not talk much," Delaporte told a news conference. "I've tried to replace words with movements."

 An Italian documentary about the Mafia whose director said she checked all the facts "1,400 times" cast a spotlight at the Venice Film Festival on Wednesday on a mooted, covert deal between Italy's political establishment and organized crime.

"La Trattativa" (The State-Mafia Pact), shown out of competition at the world's oldest film festival, is directed by Sabina Guzzanti, a former television satirist and a longstanding foe of former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, who, through film clips, figures prominently in her new film.

"In understanding and getting to the bottom of this material, I too, had moments of depression, of fear and I thought the same things all of us have for years, 'I'm leaving (Italy), there's nothing left to do here'," Guzzanti told a news conference after the screenings.

Having hosted late night television's satirical "The Daily Show" for 15 years, comedian Jon Stewart grew accustomed to a daily churn that he says "forgives sloppiness."

Now, he has crafted his first feature film in a more meticulous fashion, and hopes it will not be more permanent evidence of his own idiocy.

His directorial debut is the drama "Rosewater," the story of Tehran-born Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari, who was imprisoned and tortured in Iran at the hands of a man who smelled of rosewater. Stewart advocated for Bahari's release and then invited him to his nightly show.

Ariana Grande scores second chart-topping album on Billboard 200

Pop singer Ariana Grande landed her second chart-topping album on Wednesday as her latest record debuted atop the weekly U.S. Billboard 200 album chart.

"My Everything," the second album from 21-year-old Grande, sold 169,000 copies in its first week, according to figures from Nielsen SoundScan.

The record was released in conjunction with the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 24, where Grande performed her song "Break Free" to kick off the televised event.

24 movie on the cards


Los Angeles  - Imagine Entertainment want to make a 24 movie.

According to TVLine, the production company's chairman, Brian Grazer, has expressed an interest in taking the hit Fox series to the big screen following the end of the show's latest series 24: Live Another Day.

It is believed negotiations have stepped up in recent weeks after 24 producer Jon Cassar admitted he felt there was huge potential in reviving the show in a movie format, despite previously insisting that there were no planned future installments of the Keifer Sutherland fronted series in the pipeline.

Superhero 'Turtles' swing back onto big screen in new mutation

The teenage mutant heroes in a half shell are battling their way back to movie screens with teen crushes, insecurity, rage and a hankering for pizza in a franchise reboot for a new generation.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," based on the 1980s comic book series that led to a television show and then a film in 1990, features four turtle brothers trained as fighters.

In the 2014 version out in U.S. theaters on Friday, the amiable Turtles named after Renaissance artists are brought to life with new performance capture technology.

Jagger, Hawking join big celebrity push to keep Scotland in the UK

Singer Mick Jagger, actress Judi Dench and scientist Stephen Hawking are among 200 British stars who have signed a letter urging Scotland to remain part of the United Kingdom, six weeks before a historic referendum on independence.

The letter, an attempt to sway Scots before the September 18 vote, was organised by "Let's Stay Together", a group which says it aims to give a voice to the millions of Britons outside Scotland who don't have the right to vote.

Only Scots residents can take part in the referendum, meaning people who live in the three other constituent parts of the UK - England, Wales and Northern Ireland - don't have a say.

Beyonce to be honored and perform at MTV Video Music Awards

Beyonce, who received eight nominations, will be awarded the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the show, one of the industry's top ceremonies that will be aired live from California on Aug. 24.

"As a performer, Beyonce has delivered some of the most memorable performances in VMA history," MTV said in a statement.

Beyonce, 32, earned nominations for best video and best collaboration with Jay Z for her hit "Drunk In Love," and will compete for Video of the Year against Australian rapper Iggy Azalea.

Crowdfunded 'Wish I Was Here' Gets A Distributor


Focus Features has picked up distribution rights to Zach Braff's Kickstarter film Wish I Was Here after it premiered at Sundance.

The film was funded by over 46,000 donators on Kickstarter and raised over $3 million dollars. Variety reports Focus Features paid $2.7 million for rights to show the film in North America, Poland, and South Africa. Focus has committed to at least 500 theatres for the American release.

Beyonce’s visual album Beyonce has now topped one million copies. When she first dropped her flawlessness on iTunes, Target and then Amazon declared that they wouldn’t stock the card copy because she chose to partner with Apple. So what did B do?

Oh she dropped in on a Walmart in Boston the other day and gifted 750 shoppers in the store with $50 gift certificates each, spending $37,000 on her “fans”. It’s no secret I love me some RiRi. So I wasn’t at all surprised when Rihanna was recently revealed as the new face of the Balmain. The French fashion house’s creative director, Oliver Rousteing tells us why he choose the Barbadian beauty for the new collection.
The 27-year-old powerhouse designer confessed that he designed the entire collection with Rihanna and her awesomeness in mind.

Gloria Govan Says New Spinoff Series Will Be “Kinda Like A ‘Love & Basketball’”

According to reports, the “Basketball Wives LA” stars are working on a family-oriented show of their own.
“We’re working on a family show: me, my sister, Gilbert [Arenas], Matt [Barnes], you know all of our kids,” Gloria Govan told The Jasmine Brand. “You know my sister’s got like 18 kids. It’s really four, but it feels like 18 because they’re all over the place. We’re doing a lot of stuff that we’re doing together, which is really cool.”

Snoop Dogg: 'I Need An Intern'

International hip-hop superstar Snoop Dogg is on the search for a fortunate fan to work as his intern in a bid to raise money for charity. 

The rap legend has teamed up with celebrity charity website, Prizeo.com, to raise cash for his Snoop Youth Football League, a non-profit organization giving inner-city children the chance to participate in football games. 

The 42 year-old star will recruit the lucky winner to work with him on several projects for one day in Los Angeles and will also treat the victor to lunch. All those who donate will automatically be entered into the prize draw. 

Snoop writes in a statement, "I need an intern for a day in LA, who wants to join me?! All ya gotta do is help me support the Snoop Youth Football League for inner-city children, and you'll be entered to win. I'll fly you and a friend out to my city, the great Los Angeles, and put you up in a nice hotel! 

Ludacris fathers baby while on a ‘break’ from girlfriend

Dwyane Wade wasn’t the only celebrity to have a baby outside of his long-term relationship. Ludacris has popped up with one of his own!
Ludacris has just welcomed a new daughter, but it wasn’t with his girlfriend Eudoxie. TMZ.com reports that the “Money Maker” rapper fathered a child with another woman named Tamika Fuller while he and Eudoxie were on a “break.”
The child was an early Christmas gift since Tamika delivered their daughter Cai Bella Bridges on December 9.
